Superbritánico: Augmented Reality and British Identity

An immersive filter to boost brand awareness and engagement

The challenge: To capture the humour and essence of British culture in an immersive format

Superbritánico stands out in the market for its ability to convey UK culture through an unmistakable graphic and satirical style. The main challenge of this project was to translate that rich visual and narrative identity into a dynamic and interactive environment using augmented reality, enabling the brand’s community to engage with its products in a completely innovative way.

To achieve this, it was essential to carefully select the most iconic British figures, such as Freddie Mercury and David Bowie, and to translate the products’ visual aesthetic into three-dimensional elements. The technical and conceptual challenge required the digital accessories to fit perfectly with the brand’s personality and to maintain the playful tone that characterises its catalogue.

The solution: An interactive augmented reality filter with pop-up icons

The process began with conceptualisation and the creation of sketches to bring the initial ideas to life in a digital environment. Based on these designs, the various elements were modelled in detail in 3D – such as David Bowie’s iconic lightning bolt and the Royal Guard’s distinctive hat – with careful attention paid to the aesthetics to reflect the visual identity of Superbritánico.

Advanced textures and materials were then applied to give the objects a realistic appearance before they were finally integrated into the digital platform. The lighting system was configured and the filter’s interactive logic was developed, enabling users to switch easily and intuitively between the different characters and enjoy a seamless, immersive experience.

Key findings

The roll-out of the augmented reality filter had a highly positive impact on the brand’s digital strategy, exceeding initial expectations in terms of reach and engagement. By giving the audience the opportunity to personalise their image with distinctive elements of British pop culture, the experience encouraged the creation of user-generated content, boosting Superbritánico’s organic presence on social media platforms.

As well as strengthening the emotional bond with existing customers, the initiative served as a powerful tool for attracting a new audience with an affinity for British culture. The combination of technological innovation and creative dynamism cemented Superbritánico’s position as a cutting-edge brand in the use of interactive formats for digital marketing.
