XR showroom to showcase Pygsa’s industrial machinery

Interactive 3D visualisation for industrial vision systems

The challenge: Overcoming the physical constraints involved in marketing heavy machinery

Pygsa faced a recurring challenge in its sales process: the sheer size, specialised nature and complexity of its machine vision systems made them extremely difficult to transport and install at trade fairs and sales meetings. This physical barrier drove up logistics costs and limited the amount of equipment they could display to customers at promotional stands.

In the midst of its internationalisation process, the company needed an innovative tool to accurately convey the technical value of its solutions and make them easier for customers to understand. The aim was to project a cutting-edge image in keeping with its technology without having to physically transport heavy machinery.

The solution: An interactive AR catalogue and a fully immersive VR tour

To meet this need, Innoarea developed a comprehensive solution based on immersive technologies. Firstly, the “Pygsa AR” mobile app was created: an interactive virtual catalogue that works in conjunction with the company’s physical printed catalogue to display the machines in 3D and at actual size, whilst also enabling the measurement and analysis of user behaviour.

Secondly, an XR showroom was designed and unveiled at international events such as the PPMA Total Show 2016 and Enomaq 2017. Using virtual reality headsets, visitors are transported virtually inside a working plant or winery, where they can observe the entire mechanical process of the equipment in detail and in real time.

  • Precise 3D reconstruction for machine vision and quality control equipment
  • Marker recognition in the physical catalogue to display 3D models on mobile devices
  • Reconstruction of industrial environments (factories and warehouses) with machinery in operation
  • Tracking usage statistics in the mobile app to optimise sales monitoring

Key findings

The roll-out of AR and VR experiences established Pygsa as a pioneer in the digitalisation and application of immersive technologies within the industrial sector. The company overcame the limitations of physical space at leading trade fairs such as Enomaq, showcasing its full range of technological solutions from a single immersive experience point.

As well as drastically optimising investment in logistics and exhibition space, the combination of interactive visualisation and virtual simulation boosted customer interest and retention. This solution provided the sales force with a modern and effective tool that drove customer acquisition as part of their international expansion.
