Interactive catalogue for OGMA at the Paris Air Show

3D visualisation and augmented reality for the aviation sector

The challenge: To boost international visibility and product promotion

OGMA needed to attend the Paris Air Show with an innovative proposal that would enable it to stand out from its global competitors and consolidate its position as an established company in the aeronautical sector. The main challenge was to convey the technical complexity and scale of its airframe maintenance products and services within a limited exhibition space, without resorting to the costly transport of large physical components.

To achieve an effective commercial impact, it was essential to provide the sales force with a tool capable of offering detailed, accurate and visual information to visitors. The ultimate aim was to instil maximum confidence and reassurance in potential customers during the decision-making process, ensuring a clear understanding of the company’s quality and capabilities.

OGMA

A Portuguese aerospace company founded in 1918, specialising in the manufacture of aerostructures and maintenance services for commercial, business and defence aviation.

The solution: An augmented reality app to revolutionise the showroom experience

To meet OGMA’s requirements, a mobile and tablet app was developed using augmented reality (AR) catalogue technology. This solution enabled three-dimensional digital elements to be superimposed onto the real-world environment of the stand, allowing visitors to explore the aeronautical products in their exact dimensions and volumes within the exhibition hall itself.

By incorporating augmented reality into the stand, OGMA transformed its traditional catalogue into an interactive and immersive experience. The app enabled a detailed breakdown of aerostructure components and an interactive visualisation of its services, providing the marketing and sales team with a high-value-added technological resource to capture the attention of international buyers.

  • Interactive rendering of aeronautical components whilst maintaining exact dimensions
  • Optimisation for tablets and smartphones, making it easier to use for both sales staff and visitors
  • Ability to display detailed data and product specifications when interacting with 3D models
  • A reusable tool for various commercial events, client presentations or in the corporate showroom itself

Key findings

The implementation of the AR catalogue at the Paris Air Show enabled OGMA to consolidate its reputation as a leader in innovation within the aeronautical industry. The ability to display complex products to scale proved a major draw at the stand, increasing the flow of qualified visitors and providing the sales force with a highly distinctive and interactive sales pitch.

In addition to the impact on brand image, the project delivered direct operational efficiencies by optimising the costs associated with stand design and infrastructure for major events. The adoption of augmented reality has provided OGMA with a sustainable and scalable digital asset to enhance its marketing and sales strategies at an international level.
