An immersive experience for Porcelanosa Green Horizon

An immersive sensory journey towards a sustainable future

The challenge: Turning corporate sustainability into an unforgettable experience

For the 31st Porcelanosa Group International Exhibition, the company sought to go beyond the traditional display of trends and catalogues in its showrooms. The primary aim was to convey its firm commitment to the environment to a highly discerning audience comprising architects, interior designers and designers from around the world. They wanted to move sustainability away from abstract or purely corporate rhetoric and turn it into a deeply meaningful personal experience.

From the customer’s perspective, the real challenge lay in linking the raw materials used in their products – such as clay and sand – with their future environmental impact. What was needed was a seamless and intuitive interactive experience that did not require complex explanations, that actively engaged the viewer, and that lived up to Porcelanosa’s own standards of elegance, innovation and excellence.

The solution: A phygital sensory journey where you can touch and feel the future

We conceived Green Horizon as a journey divided into two complementary technological installations. At the entrance to the main hall, the first installation features the brand’s logo floating in a universe of clay and sand particles. Using advanced visual programming systems and body-detection sensors, the installation tracks people’s silhouettes and presence in real time, causing the raw material to react organically and in a personalised way to each visitor’s movements.

The second installation consists of an Immersive Cube that takes the user on a journey through an interactive timeline. Through a three-dimensional graphical environment depicting the interior of a contemporary home, the user explores different future scenarios by manipulating a real ceramic piece as a physical interface. The experience orchestrates photorealistic graphics, an air quality indicator, surround sound, reactive wind fans and automated scent diffusers in real time, allowing the user to switch between the scents of pollution and fresh nature in a fully synchronised manner.

  • Using a real ceramic object as an interactive dial to navigate virtual environments
  • Creating interactive particle physics through real-time motion and image processing
  • Integration of scent dispensers programmed to release fragrances that complement the visual narrative
  • Technical architecture that seamlessly connects sensors, environments and environmental effects such as wind and sound

Key findings

Green Horizon became the standout highlight of the 31st Porcelanosa International Exhibition, capturing the sustained interest of hundreds of industry professionals. The combination of an intuitive physical interface with invisible immersive technology enabled people from different backgrounds to interact immediately, sparking a profound dialogue on the role of architecture and design in preserving the planet.

The emotional impact of the installation exceeded commercial expectations. The transition from a dystopian future filled with alarm sounds and heavy odours to a hopeful future characterised by natural balance transformed the abstract concept of sustainability into a memorable experience. In this way, Porcelanosa not only reaffirmed its leadership in materials innovation, but also positioned its brand at the forefront of immersive experiences aimed at raising environmental awareness. The emotional impact of the installation exceeded commercial expectations.
