Virtual reality for a unique Christmas in Seville

An immersive experience that brings snow to the Plaza de España

The challenge: To transform a physical space into an immersive Christmas story

For Inari and Plan B, the main aim was to offer Seville’s families and visitors to the city a completely groundbreaking Christmas leisure experience. They wanted to move away from traditional attractions and create an unforgettable experience, transporting the public to a magical winter wonderland without them having to leave the Inari site. The challenge lay in devising an illusion that was as believable as it was astonishing, capable of delighting audiences of all ages alike.

Furthermore, the client wanted this magic to blend naturally with their actual physical space. It wasn’t just a matter of putting on a pair of glasses and watching a video, but of feeling as though the Plaza de España itself had been frozen in time and filled with the spirit of Christmas all around them. The aim was to ensure that children and adults alike connected emotionally with their surroundings, experiencing a shared adventure that respected the essence of Christmas whilst offering something never before seen in the city.

The solution: A total immersion in the most magical side of Seville

At Innoarea, we have developed an immersive virtual reality experience using state-of-the-art equipment. We designed a 30-metre virtual tour inspired by the iconic Plaza de España, but enveloped in a spectacular blanket of snow, the Northern Lights and dynamic weather effects. During the tour, users encountered key animated characters associated with this time of year, such as Father Christmas, the Three Kings, snowmen and bears, all accompanied by voiceovers and immersive ambient sound.

To ensure the experience was perfect, we managed to align the virtual world precisely with the physical dimensions of the Inari venue. Through precise spatial mapping, the barrier between the real and digital worlds disappeared, allowing visitors to walk around in complete safety and freedom. This fluid and natural interaction transformed the installation into an astonishing environment where technology took a back seat, allowing the magic of the experience to take centre stage.

Key findings

The project established itself as one of the most innovative and talked-about attractions of the Christmas season in Seville. The stunning transformation of the Plaza de España into a winter wonderland captivated visitors, generating extremely high levels of satisfaction, repeat visits and strong word-of-mouth. The client succeeded in setting its leisure offering apart from traditional options, positioning itself as a leader in tech-driven entertainment and attracting a large number of families.

As well as its commercial success, the installation demonstrated the immense potential of virtual reality to evoke genuine emotions. The seamless integration of the physical space with the digital environment enabled people of all ages to share in the magic of Christmas in a completely safe and awe-inspiring setting. This project not only met Inari’s high creative expectations, but also raised the bar for immersive experiences in the cultural leisure sector.
