VRProjectX for vocational training at Xabec

Immersive training in automotive and transport

The challenge: Modernizing hands-on training in industrial environments

Automotive and industrial maintenance programs require students to train on real machinery, which involves high costs, space limitations, and safety risks. In addition, group rotation and limited equipment availability make it difficult to provide enough practice hours to achieve excellence.

Faced with this scenario, Xabec was looking for a solution to expand its training capacity without compromising quality or safety, while also introducing digital methodologies aligned with the skills required by Industry 4.0.

The solution: Virtual reality environments that replicate the real workshop

Virtual Training

We developed VRProjectX as a comprehensive solution that combines immersive environments with real-time educational tracking. The application, available both in PC and virtual reality versions, allows students to access training modules from conventional computers or VR devices, adapting to the infrastructure of each center.

The platform was integrated with Moodle, the learning management system used by Xabec, enabling each practical session to be linked to the student’s profile and automatically recording their progress. Through a monitoring dashboard, teachers can view results, identify common errors, and adjust the training plan based on individual or group performance. This connectivity has made continuous evaluation more agile and accurate.

Key results

Thanks to the development work led by Innoarea, Xabec’s Projectxs educational methodology has successfully made the leap into virtual reality with a clear and functional structure. Our role focused on the digitalization and programming of the VR environments, creating interactive experiences that replicate real workshop challenges in a safe and accessible setting. This collaboration has made it possible to adapt complex technical content into an immersive format, accessible both from PCs and VR devices, and fully integrated with Moodle for real-time academic tracking.

Moreover, this tool has significantly strengthened the blended learning model by providing high-quality digital resources that allow students to continue their hands-on training outside the classroom. This versatility has been very well received by companies in the sector, who value the strong technical and digital preparation of students trained with VR‑Projectxs, further reinforcing the connection between education and the professional environment.

The platform developed by Innoarea acts as the technological core of the VRProjectX project, allowing teachers to monitor and assess student progress in real time. This approach has helped establish Xabec as a European benchmark in educational innovation, recognized by the Directorate General for Vocational Training with the Innovation Award. The developed solution not only modernizes technical training but also sets a precedent in the effective integration of virtual reality in regulated educational environments.
