Interactive flooring for the Porcelanosa showroom

We transformed the FLOW showroom with a reactive LED surface

The challenge: Create a fully responsive digital ice surface

The 31st Porcelanosa International Exhibition is one of the most influential events in the architecture and design sector, attracting thousands of professionals from around the world. In this context, the FLOW showroom could not be a simple product exhibition. The challenge was to create an installation that would stop time and capture the public’s attention, integrating technology into a premium design space without disrupting its aesthetic harmony.

Technically, the challenge was to transform a specific area of the showroom into a digital ice surface that would function as an indivisible touch unit. We couldn’t afford a segmented response by quadrants; the screen had to behave like a living organism, capable of detecting multiple simultaneous interactions with the fluidity of a tablet. The goal was for every person who stepped on the floor to feel an immediate and realistic response, making the crunch of ice under their feet the key piece of an immersive narrative within the showroom.

The solution: High-resolution LED surface for an immersive experience

We designed and implemented a custom interactive system that transformed the LED floor into a motion-sensitive surface. We enabled visitors to activate dynamic visual effects of ice plates fracturing in real time when stepping on the floor. This technical configuration allowed the screen to function as a unified canvas, responding organically to each step regardless of the user’s trajectory.

To enhance immersion in the FLOW concept, we integrated synchronised sound effects that ensured a complete and realistic sensory response to each physical interaction. This solution demonstrated that immersive experiences do not necessarily require large, complex structures to be effective; a simple but carefully crafted and responsive interaction can strengthen brand perception and elevate Porcelanosa’s identity, turning a visit to the showroom into a multisensory journey that celebrates the fragility and beauty of water in its solid state.

  • Ability to process multiple users interacting simultaneously on the screen
  • Real-time surround sound linked to your footsteps
  • Generation of cracks and effects that react organically to movement
  • LED screen designed for seamless integration into the showroom design

Key findings

The project succeeded in positioning Porcelanosa as a pioneer in the application of experiential technology within the interior design sector. The installation not only attracted the attention of attendees, but also encouraged active participation, transforming a passive visit to the showroom into a multisensory journey that reinforced the brand message centred on water and movement.

Beyond the visual impact, the solution demonstrated the viability of using small-format LED displays to create experiences with great emotional resonance. The simplicity of the interaction ensured that the FLOW concept had a profound impact on customers’ perceptions, elevating the brand’s identity in a highly competitive environment.
