The aim of the project is to bring the technology of immersive multi-user rooms to a larger number of companies through the creation of a system that enables the generation of immersive virtual rooms, using lower cost technologies than the current ones, where one or several users can collaborate in the same space and which enables the generation of content without the need for training in software development.
The development of this project is based on low-cost technologies, such as the latest generation of virtual reality glasses, which will be used to develop their own ecosystem to enable the creation of these virtual rooms, without the complexity and cost of current solutions.
Along these lines, the project is also designed in such a way that the client itself can generate its own scenarios and its own immersive room projects without having to rely on specific knowledge or the help of external personnel.
This project raises the possibility of creating multi-user rooms, both locally and remotely. Having several users in the same physical room sharing a virtual room; as well as having several physical rooms, with users located remotely and sharing the same virtual room.
These rooms will focus on both traditional tasks and:
- Design review.
- Training in construction and maintenance operations related to the company’s activity.
- Simulations.
- Occupational risk forecasting.
- Assessment of commercial aspects, e.g. presentations to customers of new models not yet manufactured, etc.
- Remote collaboration.
It is also intended to extend this development to the interaction with the real world through real-time data capture and interaction with them, also providing solutions for Industry 4.0 in aspects such as:
- Visualization and interaction with Digital Twins, through real-time data capture and the use of data from external sources, such as devices or Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence algorithms.
- Plant supervision tasks, by capturing data in real time through IoT technologies and data acquisition from the companies’ management and production systems.
This project is in line with the objectives of the INNOVATeiC-CV programme as the final result is a new innovative development in the field of information and communication technologies that can be extended to multiple users and companies. Thanks to the financial support of IVACE and FEDER, the aim is to finalise this project with a solution ready for commercialisation.
Challenge
Democratising multi-user immersive rooms by creating a system accessible to more businesses, using more affordable technologies and enabling collaboration and content generation.
Solution
Multiple users can find themselves in the same physical room sharing a virtual room and at the same time they can be located in several physical rooms remotely while sharing the same virtual room.
Technology
The technology chosen for this project was Virtual Reality, through this device it is possible for the user to be fully immersed in a Virtual experience.
